About CIMIT®:

MIMIT™ is the first international affiliate of CIMIT® – the Centre for Integration of Medicine & Innovative Technology.

Founded in 1998 in Boston, Massachusetts, CIMIT fosters and nurtures interdisciplinary collaboration among world-class experts in medicine, science and engineering, in concert with industry and government, to rapidly improve patient care. A non-profit consortium of teaching hospitals and engineering schools, CIMIT provides innovators with resources to explore, develop and implement novel technological solutions for today’s most urgent healthcare problems. CIMIT’s mission is based on their firm belief that better healthcare for people world-wide is within our reach, and that technology can and should be part of the solution.

Over the years CIMIT-enabled teams have produced many novel, cost-cutting solutions such as:

• Training devices and systems including mannequins that realistically mimic, or simulate, actual human medical problems in healthcare settings.
  
• The Operating Room of the Future (ORF), an innovatively designed working surgical suite used daily to perform minimally invasive procedures with the aid of advanced, networked communications that shorten procedure time, reduce pain and speed recovery for patients, while also serving as a learning laboratory for new technologies.
  
• Micro-electronic technology with the potential to help diagnose illnesses based on analysis of patient’s exhaled breath, in collaboration with MIMIT. The same technology is being developed by CIMIT to accurately detect airborne infectious diseases and sense bio-terrorism threats.
