Cell Responses to Nanotopography - MIMIT™ Seminar Series

Continued success was enjoyed last night when the Manchester Interdisiplinary Biocentre hosted the fourth seminar in the MIMIT Series.  Dr Matt Dalby from the University of Glasgow visited the MIB to give his interesting presentation on Cell Responses to Nanotopography.

Dr Matt Dalby is a lecturer in Cell Engineering and has worked in the field of biomaterials, bone tissue engineering, nanobioscience and genomics for 10 years (PhD IRC in Biomedical Materials (Queen Mary, University of London) then Centre for Cell Engineering (University of Glasgow)). During this time, he has worked to elucidate the range of cell response to topography.

He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers and a patent; key journals include Advanced Materials and Nature Materials. He has been cited over 1000 times. He has won 10 prizes, including recently the Tissue and Cell Engineering Society’s Early Stage Investigator Award (2006), the Society for Experimental Biology’s Presidents Medal (2007) and the Nexxus West of Scotland Young Life Scientist of the Year Award (2007). In addition, he is a member of the EPSRC peer-review college, a board member (and web editor) of the Tissue and Cell Engineering Society and is on the editorial boards of 4 international journals (Nanomedicine, European Cells and Materials, Current Stem Cell Research and Therapy, and The Open Bioengineering Journal).

The evening was a roaring success and achieved a strong turnout.
