Manchester: Most Admired Knowledge City Region
At a global awards ceremony today, Manchester was named Most Admired Knowledge City-Region in the 2009 Most Admired Knowledge Cities (
MAKCi) awards. MAKCi is a joint initiative by the
World Capital Institute and UK research firm Teleos: the winners are selected by an panel of international experts.
Manchester was commended for its ability to continually transform and renew itself in the modern age, building on its position as a city of firsts.
Clare O'Neill (MIMIT
Boardmember, and Deputy CEO of
Manchester: Knowledge Capital) said "MIMIT is an excellent example of why Manchester is being recognised in this way as a global centre of innovation - it's a groundbreaking initiative to support and develop innovation in a way that benefits the private sector, public sector and patients alike."
