MIMIT has supported and continues to actively bring forth, engage and support projects that are aimed at addressing unmet clinical need through the development of novel technology to provide solutions that lead to patient benefit.

A number of different activities have led to MIMIT managed projects:

RCUK Science Bridges: MIMIT - CIMIT Collaborative Projects
Seven projects have been awarded funds to exploit the synergistic potential of talent and expertise inherent in research teams within Manchester (UK) and Boston (USA). The collaboration between MIMIT™ and CIMIT® is aimed at promoting the advancement of technology that will change the course of healthcare provided to patients.

MIMIT Projects 2009/2010
These projects started from unmet clinical needs brought forward by clinicians within the MIMIT partnered NHS Trusts. Following validation through the MIMIT pathway, funding was awarded to enable multidisciplinary teams to work on generating a solution to address a particular unmet clinical need.

New Concept Initiative
The MIMIT New Concept Initiative was designed to enable an initial exploration of an area of clinical practice that could be improved through a completely new idea for technology development.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration Development Award
This interdisciplinary collaboration award was designed to support a scientific collaboration project focussed on novel, technology-driven solutions to urgent healthcare problems.

Pump Primed Projects
As part of the initial set up, MIMIT provided funding for a selected group of ongoing research programmes aimed at addressing healthcare issues. Although not truly part of the MIMIT working model, this provided an opportunity to support areas of reserach aimed at addressing unmet clinical need, and develop the collaborative working relationships core to MIMIT activity.
