Manchester is a long-established centre for teaching and researching dentistry in the UK.
Our undergraduate programme is recognised for its innovation, and we were the first in the UK to introduce outreach clinical teaching, where students treat patients in the community.
We are also one of the largest and most successful providers of postgraduate dental education in the UK, with world-leading researchers in basic dental sciences and health services research creating plenty of opportunities for research at MPhil and PhD levels, as well as flourishing postgraduate clinical training programmes.
We undertake world-leading dentistry research that aspires to have a significant impact on improving population oral health, reducing inequalities and improving the delivery and quality of dental services and clinical care.
Our dentistry research was judged to be excellent in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), in which we formed a combined unit of assessment with the allied health professions, nursing and pharmacy.
