GSDM-UoM Collaborative Reception and Symposium
The joint International Association for Dental Research (IADR), American Association for Dental Research (AADR) and Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR) General Session & Exhibition was held in San Francisco, USA on March 22-25, 2017.
On the evening of Friday, March 24, the GSDM-UoM collaborative held a reception in the Marriott Marquis Hotel. The University of Manchester and GSDM recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding, opening the door for extensive research and educational collaborations between the schools. Dean Hutter and Professor Coulthard greeted the guests, including faculty, students, residents and alumni from both schools as well as researchers from institutions across the globe. Well over one hundred people attended to network and socialize, keeping the reception room packed from start until finish. Collaborative Co-Chairs, Profs Anne Marie Glenny and Belinda Borrelli were also in attendance.
On March 25, the GSDM-UoM Collaborative hosted a joint symposium on Emerging Opportunities for Head & Neck Cancer Therapy. Dr. Belinda Borrelli chaired the symposium, and Dr. Maria Kukuruzinska, (BU-GSDM Associate Dean for Research and Professor in the Department of Molecular & Cell Biology), Dr. Ann Marie Egloff (BU-GSDM Research Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular & Cell Biology, and Aseel Sharaireh, PhD candidate (UoM) presented their research findings.
At IADR, NIDCR sponsored a lunch for mentees, and Dr. Belinda Borrelli was invited to be a faculty mentor.
